Abbott Laboratories in Alameda, CA seeks qualified mechanical engineers. Resp. for the design of mechanical components for hand held medical devices. Master’s degree in M.E. with hands-on mechanical CAD design exp. of mechanical components/systems (or B.S.M.E. + 5yrs progressive exp. in the same), both combined w/an analysis of new or substantially redesigned existing products using the Ansys Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software platform, as well the Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL), throughout all-inclusive product life cycles (i.e. feasibility analysis to production transfer to local & overseas mfg sites), & each w/exp. in each of the following: (i) preparing 3D CAD models, specs. & drawings for mechanical designs using Solid Works CAD software, GD&T, Agile software for doc. control & electronic change (EC) generation; (ii) ability to use the non-linear Ansys FEA software platform to perform complex engg. calculations & analyses, up to & incl. structural, contact, thermal, harmonic/random shock/vibration, design optimization & fluids analyses (iv) Tolerance analysis employing RSS, Monte Carlo simulation & CPk.
