MEDICAL REC, CLERK RECEPTION

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Performs Medical Records clerical, receptionist, and customer service functions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers telephone in professional manner and address the customers requests.

Answers requests for Master Patient Index information from both the manual and computerized systems.

Sorts and organizes medical record reports as they arrive into the department. Files medical record reports into proper place in the medial record accuracy rate following current Order of the Record outline.

Checks the record to be certain of its completeness prior to final filing.

Searches, retrieves and signs out medical records using the MEDITECH and Softmed systems.

Files records.

Copies materials, when needed.

Retrieves records for studies, MD Billing and other lists.

Performs the specific responsibilities for Desk A and Desk B as assigned by Supervisor.

Greets walk-in customers including patients, physicians, administrators, therapists and others and addresses their medical records requests and needs including directing them to the appropriate personnel

Performs other various duties as needed and appropriate to the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School graduate or equivalent with previous job experience, which is related directly, or indirectly to the position, with skills, which are transferable to position.

Preference for Medical Records Department experience.

Computer skills for the office setting.
