Perform laboratory tests of blood and body fluids according to Meridian lab policy and procedure. Uses critical thinking skills when reviewing and releasing test results.

Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping patient s protected personal information confidential.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Assures patient and team member safety by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols. Follows identification procedures when collecting and processing patient specimens, and reporting results.

Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests.

Ensures proper operation of laboratory equipment by performing and documenting; calibrations and system checks, preventive maintenance ; troubleshooting instrument malfunctions. Places calls for repairs when required. Maintains supply/reagent inventory. Evaluates new equipment and techniques.

Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks or participating in professional societies


Minimum Education: Associate in Science (AS) in Medical Technology required or meets CLIA regulations to perform high complexity testing.

Desired Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical Laboratory Science is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience: One year of experience in a lab as a med tech

Required licenses/certifications: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Nat'l Clinical Lab Specialist (NCLS) certification (or eligible) is required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of FDA, CAP, State and CLIA Regulations, Lab Environment, Clinical Lab Testing, Chemistry Techniques, Equipment maintenance, medical terminology. Skills include organization, attention to details, computer skills, Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to work well in a team and respond quickly to emergent and non-emergent requests.
