Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy is accepting applications for a full-time Title I Reading Specialist for the 2016-17 school year. Funding for this position is contingent on the availability of Title I, Part A Funding. Applicants must be MI certified and HQT in High School English/Reading.

AS A TITLE 1 READING SPECIALIST, YOU WILL...

* Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the goals of the targeted students through individualized and small group sessions;

* Educate parents on various instructional strategies;

* Prepare appropriate documentation on interventions;

* Proctor achievement and other required testing to students including alternative assessments if required.

* Hold caseload of all Math Title I students.

* Provide supplementary instruction beyond the classroom instruction.

* Pre-teach or re-teach vocabulary words or math concepts to be covered.

* Evaluate the progress of all Title I students and design and prepare student progress reports.

* Prescribe the lessons that the students will work on during Title I time.

* Develop Title I lesson plans.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students individual needs* If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12 s learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child s learning.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor degree AND

* Minimum one year of classroom experience OR

* Equivalent combination of education and experience

* State of Michigan English/Reading certification.

* Must meet HQ requirements for Grade levels served

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Strong organizational skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work without direct supervision

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Web proficiency

* Flexible schedule with ability to travel up to 10% of the time for meetings, etc.

* Ability to pass required background check
