Job Description

Duties include a wide range of machine shop activities related to prototyping and small quantity production of metal parts and assemblies for military research and development projects. Must perform programming, set-up, and operation of machinery in a job-shop environment. Candidate must be able to work with all types of metal using both conventional and CNC machining methods, including HAAS. Programming duties include the generation and manipulation of solid models in ProEngineer and Solidworks, Mastercam CNC machine programming, and 2D CAD design and programming for waterjet and laser cutters. Candidate will be required to generate completed parts based on rough concepts as well as interpreting and working from formal drawings to include reverse-engineering sample parts. Candidate must be a team player and capable of working closely with designers and other tradesmen such as sheet metal fabricators, welders, and painters. Ancillary skills in welding and/or sheet metal fabrication desirable. REQUIRED SKILLSProgramming and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes w/ 5 yrs experienceCapability in conventional machining, including high precision machining w/ 10 yrs experience desired Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and tolerancing; and apply basic drafting skills Ability to measure to tolerances of .001 inch Ability to modify and manipulate solid model files within ProEngineer and Solidworks Knowledge of, and ability to operate, water jet and laser cutters is a plusAssembly and fabrication skills Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and flame cutting as well as their applicability to machining operations Ability to perform welding and sheet metal fabrication
