Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector's Power/Control Systems business is looking for an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative High Power Magnetics Engineer to support power electronics product development and Research & Development \(R&D\) activities at our Sykesville, MD campus\.Northrop Grumman's Power/Control Systems is a leading supplier of power conversion equipment for the U\.S\. military\. Enjoy the opportunity to grow and learn with a variety of challenging projects in R&D, ongoing long term programs and new programs targeting future military platforms\.Our small teams allow individuals to experience the multidisciplinary nature of power electronics design and support projects from analysis/design all the way through to implementation\. The candidate must be a strong team participant, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful and multitalented\. A strong understanding of power electronics is essential\.The candidate must be capable of detailed design and analysis of power magnetic components from a few VA \(volt\-amps\) to multiple MVA \(mega volt\-amps\), from a few ounces to several tons, from line frequency to 10s of kHz, utilizing conduction, free, and forced convection cooling methods\. Special attention is paid to applications requiring high power density, low acoustic emissions, high performance, and other special operating requirements for shipboard and ground\-based combat platforms\. The candidate must be fluent in modeling and simulation using FEA, thermal analysis tools, and circuit simulation tools\.The successful candidate would become a member of our Power/Control Systems community in Sykesville that has initiated many 'home grown' work\-life\-balance initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations for employees, an on\-site fitness center, and various GreenNG environmental initiatives\. + Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline plus 2 or more years of professional engineering experience, with an emphasis on design of magnetic devices\.+ U\.S\. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense \(DoD\) Secret clearance\.Preferred Qualifications:
