JOB DESCRIPTIONImmediate need for a Mailroom Clerk to long on a long term temporary position in Monterey Park. (Background report will be administered)
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years related clerical experience desirable. Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities are required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint is highly desirable. Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting up to 25 pounds.
Obtain, open, sort, microfilm and retrieve customers? mail payments in support of payment processing activities; Sorts mail into four categories (regular mail, business mail, other companies and returned mail) and opens envelopes using mechanical mail opening equipment; Records number trays of mail received for production statistics; Picks up batches processed from payment entry machines; separates bill stubs from checks; scans checks and stubs for encoding endorsement and audit trail quality; places stubs in labeled boxes in batch number order and puts checks in trays in batch order; Takes trays of checks to electronic check sorter and microfilm processor at the end of each processing period (four per shift); Delivers a magnetic tape to Computer Operations; Packs checks into boxes by bank and inserts bank deposit paperwork; Maintains a record of all items microfilmed, the number of boxes sent to each bank and time they were completed; Removes bags of discarded envelopes, weighing up to 25 lbs., from payment processing machine container at the close of each shift; Puts empty bag in all containers for next shift; runs envelopes through an electronic sensing machine, recording any payments found and gives list and payments to supervisor. Performs various other equivalent grade functions; Sorting, filing and retrieving materials/information according to an alphabetic, numeric or color coded, or chronological system. Verifying information on forms. Accessing information in tables or lists. Copying numbers, codes, or other information. Performing simple mathematical calculations, routine clerical functions. Photocopying/using a facsimile machine. Performs a variety of administrative, clerical support functions. Prepares new folders, opens, prioritizes and distributes incoming mail; prepares and mails correspondence; researches and compiles data from various sources; organizes and maintain department files; and performs other related duties as required or assigned. Sorting, filing and retrieving materials/information according to an alphabetic, numeric or color coded, or chronological system.
