The Maintenance Engineer manages the physical operations of the hotel to ensure the total comfort and satisfaction of all hotel guests. They contribute to the hotels commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork and must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence. This position will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space and front of house areas. Essential Function: Attends all training; including safety training and standard operation procedures as directed by management. Arrives at work in a timely fashion in accordance with the posted schedule. Abides by established uniform guidelines. Practices efficient and effective procedures Reads and understands English to comply with function directions. Works as a member of the overall hotel team to ensure that each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations. Maintains a can do and guest first attitude at all times. Addresses guest complaints regarding equipment failures and maintenance needs. Takes reports of any maintenance repairs, records repair information in maintenance log(s), and follows up to ensure the work has been completed. Assures requests are made in a timely manner Monitors inventory and reports low/insufficient supplies to Chief Engineer. Receives and examines orders to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards, specifications, and purchasing order. Checks and performs minor and major repairs to refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and pool systems. Executes the hotels preventative maintenance program according to Hyatt Brand Standards. Monitors functions of the pool. Administers chemical tests and chemical as needed. Completes minor repairs including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, carpets, and wallpaper. Refurbish furniture and fixtures within the hotel such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, and windows Ensure basic electrical and HVAC systems are in proper working order Perform general maintenance on property grounds/curb appeal/patrol grounds for trash Snow Removal and basic lawn care Physical ability to lift/pull/push a minimum of 50 pounds Be willing to assist in other departments to ensure guest needs are met Perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and laundry equipment. Ability to control and utilize fingers in a dexterous and coordinated manner for such activities as writing, typing, keyboarding, slicing, chopping, operating equipment, etc. Ability to stretch body and extend arms to place or secure objects and commodities at a distance above, to the side of, or below the normal standing level of the individual. Ability to flex legs at the knees to lower body position Ability to use body parts, usually arms and hands (occasionally shoulders and back) to elevate an object or commodity above its previous surface level. Ability to ascend steps, ladders and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level.
