JOB DESCRIPTION

STATEMENT of GENERAL PURPOSE: The General Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining guestrooms and back & front of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering, masonry, etc. to ensure an attractive and well maintained hotel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform regular and routine "Preventative Maintenance" on all of the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, facilities, outlets and equipment. Follow "Checklist" in addition to performing a walk-through and making an assessment on the condition of the room, area, etc. Act independently to remedy all deficiencies found. Complete "Work Order" repairs and maintenance requests as assigned by Assistant and/or Chief Engineer requiring a basic to intermediate knowledge (depending on the task) of electrical engineering, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience, etc. Answer, evaluate and act on immediate maintenance requests as received via radio from base communication (PBX) requiring a basic to intermediate knowledge (depending on the task) of electrical engineering, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience, etc. Maintain a working operational knowledge of the following systems: ADT Security Alarm System Answer alarm, asses situation, communicate emergency, recommend strategy and execute response plan according to training and/or instruction from management or higher authority SIMPLEX Fire Panel and emergency automated alarm and speaker system Answer alarm, asses situation, communicate emergency, recommend strategy and execute response plan according to training and/or instruction from management or higher authority Sprinkler System and the ability to locate & isolate specific heads Answer alarm, asses situation, communicate emergency, recommend strategy and execute response plan according to training and/or instruction from management or higher authority Boiler Unit Monitor system, asses functioning performance of system, communicate concerns, recommend strategy and execute response plan according to training and/or instruction from management or higher authority Chiller System with computer activated temperature controls Monitor system, asses functioning performance of system, communicate concerns, recommend strategy and execute response plan according to training and/or instruction from management or higher authority SAFE LOCK System for Guest Room Doors Diagnose, repair and reprogram door lock Perform morning walk-through at beginning of shift: set-up pool deck, remove trash/debris for all grounds and parking garage. Maintain detailed record keeping (in English) of all work logs, checklists, and inspection sheets. (ref. 9961)
