Summary/ General Description of Job:
Performs center-wide repair in custodial or roads and grounds areas and assists other maintenance staff in the following areas: heating, electrical, plumbing, drywall repair, and carpentry work. Responsible for assisting in the routine center maintenance, grounds keeping and repair as directed by management and in compliance with government and corporate directives.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Perform limited repairs of buildings and associated equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure
Assist in troubleshoot, repair and adjust heating/ventilation systems
Assist in troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical circuits and fixtures.
Effect repairs of plumbing, i.e. leaks, clogs and new installations.
Care for center lawns to include fertilization, application of herbicides, mowing, watering, and establishment of new lawn areas.
Care for trees to include fertilization, pruning, watering, transplanting, and removal of hazardous or dead trees.
Design landscaping for shrubs, beds, and hedges. Also includes caring for shrubs by fertilizing, pruning, watering, and application of wood chip mulch.
Operate, repair, and maintain a variety of power tools.
Service and maintain laundry room equipment.
Effect door and lock hardware repair.
Receive items from warehouse, using appropriate administrative process.
Complete routine work orders using computerized preventative maintenance system.
Perform various repairs to include, furniture repair, hanging pictures and repairing holes in walls and ceilings.
Operate variety of equipment and power tools
Maintain accountability of students and property, adhere to safety practices.
Cultivates and maintains a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
Promote the development of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, monitoring student skill acquisition, and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed, provide regular feedback to staff regarding mentoring and intervention techniques.
Other duties as assigned.
Proven ability to work as a member of a team of individuals working toward a common goal
Must have basic knowledge of cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc., and the proper application.
Must be able to successfully complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year related grounds keeping/maintenance experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
Ability to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Two years facility maintenance experience.
