Job Description

Job Summary

Directs planting, cultivating, harvesting and trucking operations. Responsible for determining crop rotation schedules. Purchases seed. Sets and coordinates daily and weekly vegetable work schedules. Maintains seed inventories and records. Oversees irrigation practices to maintain high quality and yields of crops. Oversees maintainenance planting, cultivating, harvesting, and related farm equipment. Generates weekly reports on field and circle tractor and planting, cultivation or harvest operations and water application. 5 years related experience.

Position Responsibilities

* Supervises planting, cultivating, harvesting, and trucking operations.
* Sets and coordinates daily and weekly vegetable work schedules, and includes in the weekly report.
* Maintains seed inventories and records by field.
* Supervises irrigation practices to maintain high quality and yields of crops.
* Coordinates good sound agronomic fertilizer and chemical practices with Agronomy Department.
* Maintains planting, cultivating, harvesting, and related farm equipment.
* Provides budgets for Potato Departments.
* Implements expense controls for departments.
* Oversees purchasing through Purchasing departments.
* Oversees operator, driver, preventative maintenance programs, and records for equipment.
* Maintains good farming practices.
* Provides and maintains seed, planting, cultivating, harvesting, and related records for billing purposes for customers by field.
* Coordinates operations with other departments (Irrigation, Fertilizer, and Shop) to effectively utilize farm equipment and communicate potato equipment needs.
* Maintains monthly (or as required) safety meetings and records.
* Maintains field clean of rocks as much as possible.
* Provides job descriptions for employees.
* Prioritizes, organizes, and delegates assignments.
* Maintains neat and clean work areas.
* Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to the Farm Manager.
* Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
* Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

Position Qualifications

* 5+ years of related experience and/or Bachelor degree in Agriculture or a combination of education and experience.
* Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
* Strong computer skills, to include: Windows, work, excel, power point etc...
* Possesses good organizational and interpersonal skills
* Clean Driving Record (MVR)
