This is a position within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] This position is accountable for the development of business relationships with external stakeholders within local communities, including municipal leaders, key business leaders, civic leaders, local legislators and commercial and industrial customers. The individual will utilize the local relationship network to assist in strategic implementation of plans to accomplish business plan goals. The position is located at the Washington Service Center in PA. Responsibilities include:
- Managing the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of business relationships with customers and constituents within assigned territory - Building trusting, supportive relationships with all FirstEnergy departments operating within assigned territory - Acting as the key company representative while working with all customers and constituents to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction - Managing the local public relations and media relations activities in concert with company communication strategies, including, information on programs, outage status reporting and ETR updates, reliability and construction projects, rate cases, etc. - Managing and leading company public relations activities, including strategic charitable contributions, reliability issues and projects, street lighting etc., within a designated area. - Committing resources to satisfy the business needs of the public and constituents on issues consistent with company business strategies - Ensuring that all company strategies are advanced through the appropriate constituents - Providing input, competitive intelligence and feedback on local perspectives pertaining to company performance and company strategies - Leveraging key contact relationships with federal, state, community and local officials to successfully manage and advance political and regulatory strategies in concert with the company's Rates, Governmental/Regulatory Affairs, Transmission, Smart Meters, Energy Efficiency and Economic Development offices - Acting as a proactive and responsive resource within the region to lead communications to our customers and the media, particularly during outage and storm-related events - Identifying and resolving problems before they become major issues - Actively seeking and sharing knowledge of industry trends, competitors, etc., that affect FirstEnergy - Handling senior management customer complaints in the designated areas - Maintaining a high level of safety commitment throughout day to day functions - When needed, lending expertise to internal team(s) and/or task force(s)- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing or Communications or related discipline required. Advanced degree preferred. - Minimum 10 years professional work experience required - Broad background in the electric utility industry with emphasis on demonstrated problem solving skills and customer service is preferred - Experience in managing operations in a deregulated or competitive industry is preferred - Strong management background with ability to lead others - Exceptional relationship management, leadership and teamwork skills - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Demonstrated ability to function with minimum direction using a broad range of discretion to meet strategic objectives - Outstanding public relations skills in order to ensure cooperation from public officials and civic organizations on matters vital to the company - Ability to attend meetings and events before and after normal working hours, including weekends is required - Ability to work extended hours, particularly during storms, with little advance notice is required - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) experience are required. - Proficient in Outlook and SAP preferred
