The Lean Manager is responsible for process improvement activities, achieving results based on strategy development by reviewing operations, observing, planning, coordinating, and facilitating process improvement, and Kaizen teams. The Lean Manager will create a strategic transformation plan, overseeing execution of improvement efforts. This role will develop and deploy a continuous process improvement plan for the operations and business team focused on training and project execution. Some of the responsibilities of the Lean Manager include:
Develops and sustain the lean transformation plan including value stream maps to identify key opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance based on strategy deployment and business results.
Identifies opportunities to implement common processes & best demonstrated practices from other sites and businesses, disseminates and acts upon relevant industry and corporate benchmarking data.
Manages cost improvement savings, tracks project progress to plan, works with project champions to assure timely completion and reports status monthly. Verifies that predicted savings are tracked, validated with controller and posted to the plants operating results.
Provides leadership, coaching and training in lean thinking and lean production, variation reduction, problem solving & avoidance and people / team strategies. Supports and drives compliance to corporate lean standards.
Constantly reviews processes to eliminate waste in both manufacturing and business process areas.
Creates strategic Lean transformation plan and drives preparation and execution of improvement efforts throughout the facility.
Engages the organization to adapt or maintain a lean continuous improvement culture.
Coaches and mentors leadership toward a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.
Tracks progress of Lean Coordinators on their plant specific lean plans and empowers team members to implement solutions.
Coordinates all Lean Manufacturing Activities within the location including kaizen activities, projects and any other activity to improve and further lean efforts and ensure execution of transformation plan.
Assures open communications and involvement of employees who work in the Lean process.
Prioritizes improvement opportunities based upon Strategy Deployment and tactical planning objectives such as safety, growth, service, quality, cost, and cash.
Partners with new product development to ensure design for manufacturability.
Stays current with technologies and lean concepts through continuing education and benchmarking.
Provides lean training and coaching for site employees based on needs and requirements.
Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting productivity, material control, product quality, and customer service goals.
Ensures on-going education of all employees at the site in Lean. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment.
Shares best practice methods and ideas with Lean collegues.
Required Travel 50%

5 - 7 years experience in deploying Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen Promotion Office
BS degree in an engineering discipline required, Industrial Engineering preferred
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience such as: Kaizen, 5s Factory, Standardized Work, Gemba, kanban
Must have the ability to work well with others and be able to persuade associates on the benefits of these lean initiatives.
Analytical problem solving: Able to identify problems, apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data
