SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager will have responsibility for supporting the commercial efforts in the managed care arena by providing proactive and objective quantitative and strategic analyses to address critical business, pricing, and contracting issues.

Performs highly technical calculations related to a specific area of concentration that require extensive knowledge of legislation, Gilead policies and procedures, and third party software.
Provides substantive pricing analytics that accurately incorporate compliance implications and projected financial impact of pricing decisions.

Oversees and approves the accurate and timely rebate payments and serves as the backup managerial resource for the production of the entire commercial contracting life-cycle for all commercial and Medicare Markets.
Reviews and approves control mechanisms to identify any anomalies in calculated rebates and approves corrective procedures to resolve such anomalies.

Oversees and approves the establishment of monitoring protocols throughout the quarter for all commercial customers.
Reports calculated rebates to the appropriate commercial customers or internal customers.
Utilizes strong knowledge of Model N to assist in the development and implementation of contracts and payment packages in commercial contract system.

Works as a business partner with commercial units to ensure new products integrate seamlessly into rebate systems.
Oversees a team of contract analysts to ensure all pricing, discounts and rebates are accurate and extended to eligible entities.
Proactively identifies potential issues and reacts to and solves problems that arise in the areas of charge back and rebate processing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides reliable and accurate analyses and reports to internal customers to support decision making on key strategies.
Designs and implements repeatable processes of analysis that leverage previous investments in systems or data structures.
Owns data and reporting needs for an area of concentration, and runs monthly and quarterly processing to support Commercial teams.
Collaborates with various Company functions, in particular IT to analyze operational requirements for reports, document system enhancements and implement system changes.
Constructs analytical models that effectively simplify the controls or analysis while maintaining the integrity of the underlying data and analytical structures.
Participates in the development of written Standard Operating Procedures and documentation of all newly established processes.
Manages ongoing business relationships with data vendors, consultants and selected partners.
Specific Job Responsibilities Business Analytics
Provides ongoing support to field sales and recommends ways to develop methodology to optimize physician or managed care coverage.
Assists in the development of sales and marketing initiatives based on analysis of competitive landscape.

Specific Job Responsibilities - Incentive Compensation
Oversees benchmarking of sales force compensation levels to ensure competitiveness of compensation programs.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate incentive compensation budget accruals and interacting with FP&A on budget issues.

Specific Job Responsibilities Forecasting
Responsible for developing complex forecasting models and identifying the drivers of variance in monthly forecasts.
Provides scrutiny and determines confidence of demand forecasting for a particular market.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Exercises sound business judgment and analytical skill when reviewing and forming an opinion regarding new contract opportunities.

Strong working knowledge of commercial contracting regulations, advisories, methodologies and standard operating procedures.

Able to effectively manage others in accomplishing necessary tasks, both direct reports and others in related areas of Gilead.

Proven track-record of managing ongoing business activity with customers to achieve a positive outcome for Gilead while building mutually beneficial relationships.

Able to influence, negotiate and provide recommendations to senior management.
Strong communication skills.

8+ years of related experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry and a BS or BA degree.
Capable of building analytical models that evaluate business situations and provide recommendations.
Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy and reliability of complex analyses such as Return on Investment analysis.
Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical members of senior management.
Track record for excellent task management skills such as planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management and plan execution is required.
Experience in a pharmaceutical environment is required, as is a solid understanding of principles relating to the area of specialization.
In-depth knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, Access, SAS, SQL, Cognos, MS Word & PowerPoint, etc.) is required.

In-depth knowledge of global Sales and Marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IMS, NDC, Verispan, Scott Levin, etc.) is required.

Specific Requirements Business Analytics
Must have knowledge of therapeutic area, product or program of specialization.
Specific Requirements Incentive Compensation
Must have experience with the design and implementation of sales incentive plans, including identifying relevant performance metrics and defining target performance levels.

Specific Requirements Forecasting
Must be knowledgeable of forecast modeling techniques and how they apply to a particular business problem.
Must understand the industry and have experience forecasting across similar products or therapeutic areas.
