JOB PURPOSE/ JOB SUMMARY:
The Material Planning Manager leads a team responsible for supply chain management and the maintenance of inventory through a processing partner network in support of customer releases for on time delivery. Oversees the material delivery process, while working with Global S&OP, Supply Planning, Quality, Logistics, and Sales to develop and maintain a comprehensive, robust, and efficient control process to achieve both delivery service excellence and maximize supply chain efficiency.
Ensure the maintenance of customer forecasted releases through the demand manager forecast system.
Oversee the release of material and ensures delivery based on requirements from the customer.
Primary contact with customer receiving location management, providing status updates and soliciting feedback as needed.
Jointly work with the Sales team to communicate any information required to customers regarding the status of the material supply chain.
Work closely with Manager Demand Planning to ensure delivery and availability of material at supplying production facilities and processing partners.
Oversees the creating, developing and delivering of weekly performance scorecards with Material Specialists, including a weekly summary of changes in trends.
Create, develop and deliver regular scorecards for processing and logistics support networks.
Ensure root cause analysis is performed for each inventory variance to ensure all exception issues are being addressed with corrective action.
Follows the control process to assure proper implementation and accountability exists throughout the supply chain, including areas of optimal freight, outside processing cost, and inventory targets.
Provides an outstanding service experience for the customer.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor s degree in business administration, supply chain management or a related field with at least 7 years of experience in a progressively responsible, inventory management and demand planning role.
Ability to develop and lead a team of professionals, distributing decision making while still monitoring overall effectiveness of the individuals and the organization.
Must have strong collaborative skills while creating a team-based environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
Great attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in the steel, automotive or closely related industry.
Customer service orientation.
