JOB DUTIES:

The Manager of the Medical Staff Office works with the medical staff leadership of SM-UCLA to achieve the self-governance goals of the Medical Staff membership within the framework of accrediting and regulatory agency standards, physician needs, and the UCLA Health System. Provides best practice administrative management services for all aspects of the medical staff organization. Leadership accountability will be expected in managing practitioner competency systems (OPPE, FPPE, privilege criteria; policies, procedures, and documents; support of medical staff leadership; medical staff services department (MSSD) operations; and medical staff and hospital collaboration and leadership by demonstrating current practices and by using and integrating technology.



This position reports to the Director, MSSD Health System and receives guidance and direction from the Chief Medical Officer, UCLA-SMH. Supervision, guidance, and direction includes meeting regularly with the Director on staffing issues and any disciplinary actions within the MSSD; updating the Director and CMO on Medical Staff actions; discussing necessary changes to the Medical staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations; policies and procedures, delineated privileges; and to collaborate in any UCLA Health System projects as required.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification Required: CPMSM

Degree: Bachelor s degree or some college

Experience: 5+ years in healthcare; at least 2 years in management/supervisory role

Credentialing technical skills

Knowledge of diverse and comprehensive systems and functions (credentialing, privileging, meeting management, performance improvement, database management, governance, regulatory compliance, leadership development, and operating processes) performed in a Medical Staff Services Department

Overall working knowledge of software programs with a drive to incorporate technology in all operational functions

Strong organizational skills, sound judgement

Ability to analyze data, make recommendations, and implement plans

Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, discretion, tact

Knowledge of medical terminology
