United States Steel Corporation is seeking a Manager of Operational Excellence at our Gary plant in Gary, Indiana. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide and apply comprehensive knowledge of plant operations for the Irvin facility Accountable for the performance improvements related to manufacturing operations, including support functions Drive culture change to instill focus on fact-based management practices via the use of Lean Six Sigma and other problem solving methodologies Prioritize multiple projects to ensure proper allocation of people and the financial resources Accountable for defining and managing performance requirements for work group Implement mill best practices with team members Requirements: Bachelor s Degree in Industrial Engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in a heavy industrial environment At least 5 years of relevant manufacturing industry experience Lean Six Sigma Certification desirable Must have good leadership skills and be able to lead in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to coach others Support Safety as our primary core value and the Corporation s top priority Understands statistics to assist in problem solving data analysis
As a manager/supervisor of the company, qualified candidates for this role also must demonstrate the ability to manage change, communicate effectively, and lead high-performance teams.
