Summary: Manage and facilitate the work of teams that support the Freight I/T development teams. The Project Management team is responsible for establishing and disseminate efficient and effective reporting, and project governance processes, in addition to project management standards, processes and procedures. The Technical Training team is responsible for creating training plans and materials for ongoing training as well as roll out of enhanced and new applications. You will work directly with peer managers, customers, vendors, senior management, development teams and other stakeholders on various activities.
Essential Functions:
* Responsible to collaborate with peer managers to determine highest priority efforts and assign resources accordingly.
* Maintain expertise and keep informed of developments and trends as they relate to information technology especially in the areas of instructional design and project management.
* Define and implement a model for the ITPMO in working with the project teams responsible for IT initiatives to ensure defined project management practices are being followed
* Ensure more consistency in project management across the enterprise
* Establish consistent metrics for IT reporting, and maintain the collection process for the metrics going forward.
* Understands complex project, budget and operating financial data, and able to transform this data into reports for senior leadership
* Collaborate with the IT project teams, especially Project Managers, to promote consistent use of project management practices, tools, training and project performance standards.
* Improve resource planning efficiency across enterprise projects.
* Establish a knowledge center about projects across the organization
* Demonstrated history of handling sensitive information with a high level of discretion
* Develop direct reports to increase the bench strength and flexibility of teams. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training and resources to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.
* Participate in the development of IT strategies and initiatives at various levels that support client's objectives in collaboration with the business and IT teams.
* Participate in special projects or continuous improvement activities as requested.
* Handle all management level responsibilities for staff, including performance reviews, employee development, hiring, firing, coaching and counseling.
* Develop and manage team budgets, authorize expenditures, control and monitor allocation and resources, and oversee project plans.
* Ensure a positive work environment and awareness of all staff of company goals and objectives and compliance to all applicable employment policies.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Bachelor's degree in business, MIS, or technical area generally required. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience. Leadership training is desired.
* 7+ years of cross functional business management experience including transportation, IT solutions development, bringing creative ideas to market, project management, business analysis and budgeting.
* 3+ years experience managing and/or leading self directed teams of professionals.
* Experience in logistics and/or transportation management is desired.
* Demonstrates strong customer service skills both in person and on the phone. Consistently meets the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, establishing strong customer relationships gaining trust and respect.
* Solid communication skills in customer settings and with internal management. Communication skills include active listening, facilitation and presentation skills.
* Ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical people.
* Broad range of network and desktop knowledge, including experience with MS Office Suite.
* Solid knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes.
* Demonstrated analytical capabilities and experience managing expectations. Clearly assigns responsibilities for tasks, sets clear objectives and defines measures. Follows up with process monitoring and results reporting.
* Ability to establish solid business relationships and work effectively with senior business and client contacts.
* Proven track record in successfully managing projects that impact resources and stake holders across multiple departments.
* Ability to readily grasp complex application and infrastructure environments
* Ability to manage vendors and professional services staff.
* Ability to bring resolution to highly complex and stressful situations with multiple constituents.
* Ability to work and participate effectively in a dynamic team environment including demonstrated skills in collaborating within and across organizational boundaries.
