Manager - Server and Data Management

The Manager - Server and Data Management within Corporate IT is responsible for the life cycle management of server and data management technology as well as associated infrastructure services used within The Timken Company. Life cycle management includes the following activities:- research (global basis)- selection, recommendation (global)- justification (regional) - design (regional)- build (regional)- deploy (regional)- maintain, support (regional).Not only will this position directly manage a team of regional resources for execution of this life cycle, it will also be responsible to establish global standards in this area and communicate those to peers and related IT associates around the world to create a seamless server and data management technology environment. These technologies and services include, but are not limited to:- Data Center server and data storage hardware technology - Server operating system software (Microsoft Windows O/S, Linux, UNIX) - File and Print Services - Web server back-end support services (Intranet and external)- Data backup/restore back-end services- Data Base Administration - Disaster/Recovery support for above mentioned technology and services This role will also manage the process of establishing and communicating a strategic technology plan and standards. The incumbant of this position will act as the primary change agent in the adoption of new technologies and services in the related areas. While this position may not directly manage all resources on a global basis, the incumbant of this position is responsible to ensure others in related areas are in compliance with standards, policies, and procedures. This position also has the added responsibility of vendor management with external related service providers, including contract management, service delivery and reporting. Other responsibilities include:
- Manage the life cycle management process of technologies and services in related areas to maintain cost effective and appropriate services meeting the needs of The Timken Company
- Meet regularly with key business unit and corporate center areas to understand business needs and align those with server and data management based solutions - Manage vendor and technology evaluation and selection processes to ensure cost effective and reliable services
- Be accountable to build and maintain capital and expense budgets for technologies, services, and people under direct control- Monitor workload and project/work performance of his/her direct reports and take appropriate action to ensure timelines are being met
- Lead efforts to develop and maintain standards for technology based services in related areas to ensure consistency on a global basis
- Lead efforts to ensure audit compliance for those technologies and services in server and data management based areas
- Lead efforts to develop and execute service performance data collection tools and processes and take corrective actions when necessary to ensure acceptable performance levels - Lead efforts to develop and maintain a seamless and consistent architecture for technology services in related areas.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Business or IT related field with min 12 years of related IT experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Masters Degree in MBA or Info Syst with 8 years of related IT experience. Previous Job Experience in Managing an IT technical org with specific knowledge of Preferably experience managing this area and 8 -years of experience.Previous Job Experience in Vendor/supplier experiences with specific knowledge of Basic contract understandings and 8 years of experience.Previous Job Experience in Individual Contributor with specific knowledge of Basic knowledge of these technical areas and 8 years of experience.
