This is an open position with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [PEN] The Manager, Site Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership and direction of all aspects of maintenance activities being conducted at the Perry Nuclear Power Station. Responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership for the detailed task planning of both online and outage work activities. - Overseeing daily maintenance activities to ensure that work is performed to appropriate standards using standardized FENOC Fleet practices, policies and procedures. - Ensuring that assigned plant equipment is maintained in a high state of readiness. - Performing strategic planning and long-range planning for equipment reliability, and ensuring adequate staffing and union relations. - Establishing and implementing standardized maintenance and planning processes, and implementing the company's related strategic initiatives as identified in the FENOC Business Plan. - Directing, controlling, and coordinating the work activities of company and contractor personnel in performing routine and major maintenance and modification work. - Reviewing and recommending changes, as required, in craft complement, job descriptions, equipment design, and tools. - Implementing the terms of the Company/Union agreement, and promptly investigating and settling grievances. - Directing compliance with the company's Quality Assurance (QA) program, the plant's administrative requirements, maintenance procedures and various codes, standards, and regulatory guides to which maintenance and modification work must be performed. - Directing maintenance, modification and support activities to ensure safe site operations, effectiveness, and efficiency. - Directing and coordinating activities related to the preparation and performance of outage and on-line maintenance activities to optimize maintenance costs, work quality and availability requirements. - Establishing expectations for a high level of performance, monitoring performance, and reinforcing and correcting behavior as necessary. - Establishing processes for coordinating, developing, reviewing, and approving procedures and work instructions for the Maintenance organization. - Ensuring that the maintenance budget is developed and maintained, and that vendor services controls are established. - Reviewing budgets, schedules, overtime statements, and other controls to ensure that cost and schedule objectives are met. - Preparing routine and special reports of maintenance activities for dissemination to individuals and groups, both inside and outside the company. - Supervising the coordination of the Maintenance Supervisor Training Program. - Ensuring that contractor, vendor, and FirstEnergy personnel are qualified and adequately trained prior to approving their performance of maintenance activities. - Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
- Shall have a minimum of seven years of responsible power plant or applicable industrial experience, of which a minimum of one year shall be nuclear power plant experience. Academic or related technical training may fulfill a maximum of two years of the remaining six years of power plant or industrial experience on a one-to-one basis. Should have non-destructive testing familiarity, craft knowledge, and an understanding of electrical, pressure vessel, and piping codes. (ANSI N18.1-1971, Section 4.2.3) - High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred. - Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a power plant or applicable heavy industry, of which a minimum of 1 year experience is in a nuclear power plant, is required. - Prior supervisory/leadership experience required. - Broad experience with Work Control and Scheduling preferred. - Hold or having held a Senior Reactor Operator?s (SRO) license or certification preferred. - Multi-department and multi-station experience preferred. - Prior industry exposure (i.e. INPO assist visits, INPO loanee assignment, Industry Committee Representation) preferred. - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. - Must reside within site-specific ERO response time.
