Job Description
Gilead Sciences is currently seeking a Manager, Clinical Contracts Finance. This position will require the ability to perform duties in strategic clinical vendor outsourcing, contract management & budget development including negotiation & drafting expertise.
Ideal c&idate will have demonstrated experience in CRO proposal writing/analysis, managing direct reports, working collaboratively with other cross functional groups in a rapidly evolving environment to ensure the most efficient & cost effective contract/outsourcing solutions are achieved & developing performance methodologies, tools & recommending strategic opportunities for improvement.
- May lead or manage the Clinical Contract & Finance department in support of senior management.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of multiple areas in complex clinical contracts & finance processes.
- Manages operational functions including supervising other staff who contribute to either clinical finance or contract production.
- May focus on either contracts or finance or both areas of the department based on business need.
- Manages staff grade 28 & below.
- Participates in establishing departmental & cross-functional policies & procedures.
- Manages contract activities for multiple clinical development programs, ensuring that there is adequate staff with the skills to complete site & vendor contracts accurately, consistently, & in a timely manner.
- Provides information to Senior Management on contract & finance issues.
- Assists CCF staff working on contracts in resolving complex issues relating to contract negotiation or management.
- Trains CCF staff in contract budgeting, development, & administration.
- Develops spreadsheets & tracking tools.
- Manages vendor relationships in conjunction with the Clinical Operations, Bioanalytical Chemistry or Biometrics groups
- Works with internal customers in vendor bidding & proposal development (RFP creation & analysis)
- Manages Vendor bid defense meetings
- With the support of internal customers & the Legal department, manages the contract negotiation process, especially in more complex, or high value contracts
- Leads contract life cycle management process related to vendor, government, & collaborative agreements.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, & interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of clinical research functions.
- Demonstrates strong underst&ing of regulatory & legal issues pertinent to clinical development. (Contracts)
- Demonstrates ability to interact on an advanced level with the clinical teams, corporate finance, & project management to provide oversight of clinical budgets & related contractual terms.
- Demonstrates a basic underst&ing of the regulatory implications of contracts as related to clinical research. (Finance)
- Completes tasks & projects under minimal supervision as well as demonstrates ability to make critical decisions related to projects & tasks of junior CCF staff.
- Works with FP A & Clinical Management to develop annual Departmental budget & long-range planning / forecasting.
- Demonstrates all the skills of an Associate Manager, Clinical Contracts & Finance.
- Travel may be required
