MANAGER, TRANSMISSION PLANNING-NY

Oversee transmission planning analyses to identify system needs for improvement and expansion. Monitor the development of strategies and capital projects required to optimize network capacity and reliability in-line with customer needs and regulatory requirements. Oversee tasks for compliance with applicable NERC, NPCC, NYISO and state requirements.
*Review, evaluate and analyse transmission requirements in assigned regions and develop recommendations for policy and procedural change to contribute to the development of the US business transmission strategy.
*Translate transmission policy and strategy into an annual plan of activities that ensures transmission planning studies and other activities deliver cost effective proposals for the continuous improvement of transmission performance and compliance with relevant regulations (FERC, NERC, NPCC and the NYISO)
*Build constructive relationships with the New York ISO and state regulators, keeping them up to date and informed of National Grid regulatory/compliance programs and working together continuously to improve the effectiveness of regulatory processes.
*Ensure technical adequacy of reliability studies and oversee their execution such that the region s electric transmission system can deliver energy and peak demand under reasonable scenarios consistent with NERC Standards, NPCC planning criteria, ISO and state requirements, and company standards
*BS in electrical engineering is required; in addition, an advanced degree in electrical engineering (primarily electric power systems) and/or business is preferred.
*Supervisory or management experience within engineering or operations preferred.
*5+ years experience within the industry required; 5+ years experience within transmission planning preferred.
*Experience on industry committees such as NERC, NPCC, ISO, IEEE, and others strongly preferred.
*Familiarity with software tools used by Transmission Planning staff in their analytical power flow, stability and short circuit studies such as PSS/E and ASPEN preferred.
