MANAGER OF APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE EXPECTED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

* EXPERIENCE IN DESIGNING AND IMPLEMENTING COMPLEX WEB APPLICATIONS with focus on functional and non-functional requirements
* EXPERIENCE WITH HIGH-VOLUME/HIGH TRANSACTION E-COMMERCE APPLICATIONS, intimate knowledge of Internet Technologies and solid understanding of the latest changes and trends in this area of technology.
* _HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN SEVERAL TECHNOLOGIES - AWS, ENDECA, JAVA, JEE, XML, JSP, AJAX, WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, SQL AND NON SQL DB, RESTFUL WEB SERVICES, AND WEBSPHERE OR TOMCAT._
* Good understanding of Core Java and object oriented concepts
* Experience with implementing UI design using HTML, CSS, AngularJS, React.js, jQuery, JQueryUI, JavaScript, consuming JSON web-services, Ajax.
* Experience in Responsive and Adaptive Web Design
* Experience with UI for various devices (desktop, table, mobile, etc.)
* Experience in using tools like Eclipse, SVN, Jira, GitHub, etc.
* Experience with APM (Application Performance Management) tools like Splunk or Newrelic
* Experience working within short development cycles using agile methods
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
* Strong problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills
* Passion for keeping up to speed with the latest software tools and methodologies

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES FOR THIS ROLE :

* Defines high-level technical strategy and implementation options for all assigned application initiatives
* Collaborates with technology partners and cross functional groups within the business technology teams and business to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of development and support activities
* Engages with Enterprise architecture group on new technologies and industry trends and make recommendations for their adoption based on business goals, investments, benefits and risks
* Reinforces the common "one team" mindset that includes collaboration and a sense of joint responsibility that exists between the company and its business partners
* You will be working closely with business and technology teams to understand business strategy and contribute to the achievement of business goals from assigned applications
* Creates proposals including recommendations, scope, resourcing, budget and timeline details for new initiatives to achieve business goals and fuel innovation for assigned applications
* Provides oversight to investigation, analysis and management of technology risks, issues, and dependencies in all programs/projects
* Ensures adherence to company policies, regarding development standards and quality thresholds by partner at all times
* Conducts periodic reviews with partner on SLA's, performance metrics and issues, escalations, change requests, improvement plans and assigned action items
* Collaborates with partner to overcome issues impacting service delivery and execute operational improvement initiatives. Encourage best practice and Knowledge sharing with partner and cross functional groups
* Drives an effective communication framework with partners including both formal and informal mechanisms and well defined interactions
* Manages the overall technical design and delivery of the solutions
* Provides management oversight to development, production support and deployment/cutover activities
* Participates in the high level technical solution definition and design during the implementation phase with the goal of providing reliable, stable and operationally sound applications that meet business requirements
* Builds consensus and gains alignment from cross-functional groups within the business technology and business to ensure success on assigned application initiatives
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with peers in business and technical teams
* Performs supervisory duties for assigned staff
* Enhances organizations readiness for change by identifying the competency gaps within teams and providing guidance and support to develop desired skills
* Acts as a coach for direct reports as well as matrixed resources from other teams
* Performs additional duties and supports additional applications as assigned by leadership team

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

* 8+ years of combined IT experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
* 4+ years of experience managing a team of developers/architects
* 3+ years of experience leading large-scale multi-functional projects
* 3+ years of experience supporting business-critical applications in production environments
* 2+ years of experience with object-oriented programming (Ex: Java and/or .NET)
* Experience building and maintaining applications in AWS Cloud
* Experience working with matrixed and geographically distributed teams
* Experience with DevOps practices strongly preferred
* Solid understanding of the software development life cycle and Agile practices
* Solid technical experience and understanding of cloud architecture and applications.
* Ability to act as a change agent for adoption of DevOps mindset within immediate team as well as peer teams
* Ability to articulate business value of IT investments/projects and collaborate with partners and cross functional groups during implementation
* Ability to engage as a consultative face of IT to the business and enable technology to address business challenges and improve operational efficiency
* Ability to integrate technologies with existing business initiatives using understanding of business processes and customers' needs
* Good understanding of governance framework (roles and responsibility, escalation and communication process, handoffs and control points) in managed services
* Ability to manage conflict with partner and cross functional groups within business and the business technology group
* Ability to make recommendations on continuous improvements in support and development initiatives and facilitate implementation with partners and cross functional groups within business and technology
* Ability to work with multi-national teams, understand and respect cultural diversity and develop messages that help achieve objectives with diverse audiences

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

* _BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED_
* Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering are preferred.
