Job Description

Manager of Consumer Insights

Salary: $85K - $120K Bonus: $12K target

Location: Chicago, IL



Drive company to fully understand trends, consumers, shoppers, and their needs; identify opportunities for growth, transform ideas into concepts, products, and projects that drive the strategic growth agenda.

Deeply understand key competitors and anticipate their strategic moves

Drive consumer insights agenda for brand, including positioning, communication, and innovation for packaging and food innovations

Lead insights work to fully understand trends, consumer attitudes and behaviors, key functional and emotional requirements, consumption occasions, shopper needs, and translate those learnings into insights to be used as foundations for brand positioning, messaging, line extensions, etc.

Lead insights work on innovation development including: message crafting, packaging design and structure development and validation, product development and validation, pricing definition, and full mix impact understanding (predict volume, revenue, cannibalization, incrementally to company

Utilize design thinking methods and processes to uncover underserved needs or key consumer pain points to assist in development of innovation that has clear functional and/or emotional benefits

Lead insights work related to understanding competitors that play in this space. Identify key market and cultural needs

Identify opportunities to drive growth, disseminate learnings internally, including leadership, marketing, sales, and R&D to ensure internal alignment and understanding of consumer needs

Identify and manage outside vendors and third parties to maximize learning and value from projects

Be an active contributor and partner with marketing, innovation, and other cross-functional teams such as R&D and sales



Must have BS/BA

5+ years solid market research/insights experience, preferably within leading innovation research supplier working on CPG projects.

Minimum 3years experience in insights work in new product development required with Nielsen Scanner and Panel Data experience, sensory data, and research.
