Position Overview:



The Manufacturing Controls Engineer enforces safe work practices as the highest priority and implement improvements for ergonomics, health and safety, and housekeeping as well as plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes.









Duties & Responsibilities:



Exhibit good working relationships daily with peers, hourly employees, union management, and the supplier community

Solve complex manufacturing problems, troubleshoot equipment and design/implement solutions to insure customer satisfaction and profitability.

Provide input and backup for the capital planning process

Responsible for safety, quality, and throughput of equipment related to the manufacturing process

Specifies / designs / implements machinery designs for optimal manufacturing processes

Ability to troubleshoot and program PLC controls and write new programs as part new equipment startup process.

Project management for midrange/small projects - achieving completion on time and on budget.

Implementation of lean material flows is critical

Provides technical direction and oversight of vendors / sources providing turnkey and component solutions.

Provides technical support and coverage if necessary on off-shifts and weekends to support maintenance and/or tool room.

Lead/Perform machine safety checks on equipment as required

Limited travel for information gathering, information sharing and runoff approval.

















Education, Skills & Requirements:



Bachelor s degree in engineering (or like combination of education and experience) with a minimum of two years Controls/PLC experience.

Qualifications

Analytical ability to solve problems and find optimal solutions

Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes (progressive dies, stamping, automation, robotics)

Great communication up and down to build teams and provide project/problem updates to service the customer and achieve profitability goals.

Ability to multitask, working multiple issues or implementations at the same time.

Ability to work autonomously or part of a team with a drive to exceed project goals and timing.

Project management skills

Working knowledge of AutoCAD for layout and schematics and Inventor.
