Superior Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Gear Cutting for our client in Enumclaw, WA 98022.

Job Description:
Works with the manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality in accordance with product specifications and quality standards as well as cost efficiency. Works with the engineering team and other manufacturing departments cohesively and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. Leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineering team members and project technicians.

Description of Work Performed:

Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel.
Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space.
Work closely with research and development, quality assurance and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
Ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies.
Support all current and new product introductions.
Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of processes and related equipment.
Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Confer with sales, planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
Design and document control plans, PFMEA and assist in APQP process, and PPAP efforts.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering required, or five or more years in Manufacturing Engineering and/or training; or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and at least 1 year of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum of 1 year of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Minimum of 1 year of CNC machine programming.
Minimum of 1 year of gear and gear cutting experience.



Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

Proven track record of reducing costs through processes and efficiencies.
Experience in tool design and modifications.
Process-oriented mentality and strong problem solving capabilities.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
Computer literacy: MS Word and Excel; AutoCAD proficiency.


Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
