JOB DESCRIPTIONSuperior Group is helping its national aerospace client find a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Everett, WA. This is a a salaried direct staff position with full benefits. This location is a metal machine shop. You must have similar experience.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Engineering department.
Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Acts as a liaison with major customers to ensure ongoing service support is maintained. As required, makes periodic visits to customer facilities to review customer requirements and company performance.
Using parts lists, related drawings and specifications from customers develops manufacturing routings and tooling work orders in the company MRP system, with sequences to enable the manufacture of tooling, detail parts and assemblies. The manufacturing routings and tool work orders created are based on ensuring the most efficient manufacturing methods are used to produce a quality product that meets all customer requirements and specifications;
Confers with management, production control, quality and shop personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, manufacturing improvements, production schedules, quoting and other considerations to facilitate production processes;
Confers with customers to determine or clarify product specifications an requirements.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions and customer quotes.
Reviews customer purchase order changes, drawing and specification changes, for incorporation and cost impact.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Assists in establishing and monitoring variance reports. Determines sources of variances and makes appropriate corrections.
Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with supervisor when problems arise, which impact expected level of performance.
Responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
Must contribute to a positive work environment.
Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
Min 3 years management or supervisory experience
Min 7 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing engineering
Min 3 years of experience in an aerospace machine shop
Min 1 year of Planning or Estimating experience
U.S. Persons due to ITAR regulations
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
CNC programming and machining background
Knowledge of machine tools and manufacturing processes.
Advanced skills with MS Word and Excel; Strong CAD proficiency.
Experienced in engineering software programs; advanced understanding of Espirit and Solidworks; office computer software and an aptitude for mechanical engineering and N/C machining.
Epicor Vista Software knowledge is desirable.
Proven track record of reducing costs through processes and efficiencies.
Experience in tool design and modifications.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes.
Process-oriented mentality with strong problem solving capabilities.
Strong knowledge in writing product specifications.
Strong project management skills.
Risk assessment capability of product, processes and suppliers.
Ability to manage multiple priorities
