The Hygiene Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment and infrastructure according to regulatory requirements and industry best practices for hygiene.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands and is able to implement the 7 steps of sanitation effectively in accordance with regulations and company requirements.
Ability to identify insanitary conditions and safety concerns without supervision.
Notifies supervisor of all insanitary conditions, safety concerns and program deviations.
Efficiently disassembles equipment for proper cleaning and then effectively reassembles.
Adheres to all GMP/Sanitation guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of sanitation chemical properties, proper use of cleaning solutions and applies knowledge in their effective use.
Keeps accurate cleaning records of equipment in accordance with SSOP s.
Maintains a clean and orderly chemical room to 5S standards.
Ensures that chemicals are properly labeled and stored according to GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards.
Acts with integrity and follows all safety, environmental, and food safety rules and regulations.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or GED
GMP/HACCP Certification (in-house)
Wet surfaces; over, under and inside industrial equipment; use of scissor lift for high cleaning
Able to lift 50 lbs; full range of motion both arms; ability to perform cleaning duties on top of machinery and scissor lift; able to crawl under equipment; bend; stoop; sweep; wipe and move repetitively for periods up to 30 minutes at a time.
Equipment Used on Job:
Box cutter; smock, hairnet, limited chemical exposure; air hose; hot water hose; floor cleaner; scissor lift; step ladder; shop-vac; sanitation tools; flashlight; hygiene testing kits.
For sanitation experience in food process, with meat sanitation preferred.
