TALASCEND IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A MANUFACTURING PROCESS ENGINEER FOR AN OPPORTUNITY WITH OUR CLIENT IN PONTIAC, MI

OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will be working in the Process Development areas of Engine Transmission and Driveline Assembly. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing optimized assembly systems for future General Motors Powertrain products. The "career" level process engineer responsible for developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE:

* Responsible for manufacturing processes including; sequence of operations, human factors consideration and efficient material flow
* Responsible for project management for large (or large portions of) programs or projects.
* Responsible for project timing and milestones
* Managing variants of technologies through development and across multiple implementations
* Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
* Involved in development and testing of advanced process technology
* Leading process development to drive common processes and lean, manufacturable designs
* Providing direction for the design, build, and operation of all operations to ensure a successful launch
* Responsible for process development and maintenance of technical memory for assigned area
* Incorporating lean manufacturing principles for application on future product programs.
* Developing and driving the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process at/with sites after program launch
* Responsible for Support Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) processes - analyze quality risk factors and develop appropriate product, process, and tooling countermeasures
* Developing cost studies for make/buy analysis of product and process alternatives

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

* 1-3 years automotive engineeringexperience
* 8+ years' work experience in Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
* Thorough manufacturing operations knowledge with experience in Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing
* Gear Manufacturing, machining (turning / grinding operations), or tool maker experience
* Experience in process design, build, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement
* High level of independent judgment and creativity
* Strong analytical, computer, problem solving and presentation skills
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to demonstrate initiative by reaching beyond work assignment to improve output and to help others
* Ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results

EXTENSIVE TRAVEL, EXTENDED WORKING HOURS, AND VARYING SHIFT SCHEDULES MAY BE REQUIRED FROM TIME TO TIME

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

* BachelorDegree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical)
* Preferred Master Degree in Engineering or Business Management
