JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION: Marine Engineer

PURPOSE: Support the Navy's DRS Program. DRS is the current U.S. Navy critical program for maintaining and monitoring Fleet Main Propulsion Diesel Engines (MPDE) and Ship Service Diesel Generator (SSDG) engines. DRS consists of various components including Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management (SAMM) machinery history database, "ICON DOCTOR DK-2" Combustion Analysis, DRS Lubricating Oil & Jacket Water Analysis program and various Planned Maintenance System (PMS), Maintenance Standard (MS), Integrated Class Maintenance Plan (ICMP) and DRS program documentation driven requirements. DRS support will apply to the following ship classes: LSD 41/49 Class MPDE, SSDG/ LPD-17 Class MPDE, and SSDG
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review, update, maintain and manage the Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management (SAMM) material history database for each assigned hull
Analyze and report shipboard monthly "DOCTOR" Diesel engine combustion data analysis with technical recommendations to correct out of parameter results
Conduct ship visits to train personnel on utilization of the Diesel Readiness System (DRS) modules including, but not limited to, the SAMM database, "DOCTOR DK-2" diesel engine combustion analyzer and documentation of machinery history
Review and analyze machinery operating conditions, maintenance actions, logistics and repair issues and diesel engine electrical and controls related issues
Develop monthly and event driven DRS reports based on the DRS requirements, engine performance testing and lube oil / jacket water sample analysis
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
* BS Degree in Marine Engineering with 2years of sailing experience Must have 4years of experience as diesel marine engineer
* Approximately4years ofexperience in the development and technical review of Diesel Engine technical documentation ispreferred
* Examples of technical documentation includes: technical manuals, planned maintenance, depot level maintenance standards and operational procedures
* USCG Licensed Marine Engineer with sailing experience or personnel that have experience with US Navy diesel system or propulsion plant inspections/assessments (i.e. Builders, acceptance and final contracttrials, DEBA, etc.) is strongly desired
