JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Applies natural gas measurement skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on assigned measurement and ancillary equipment. Maintains assigned equipment including gas meters, regulators and relief valves, RTU & SCADA equipment and related communication equipment, valves and valve operators, gas filters, and auxiliary equipment such as electrical generators in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Recognizes operating deviations and takes appropriate corrective action. Maintains cleanliness and general appearance of facilities and surrounding work area as needed. Reads and interprets drawings, schematics, and technical manuals as well as other technical resources in the performance of assigned work. Effectively uses hand, power, and specialty tools and equipment. Maintains records for required state, federal, and company procedures. Utilizes computers and associated software applications for e-mailing internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing/maintenance of various forms and records. Responds to emergency situations. Actively contributes as a member of the organization providing and supporting the training of other employees, performing administrative duties in addition to technical tasks; and other activities such as budgeting, planning, scheduling, problem solving, and prioritization. Schedules, coordinates, and inspects the work of third party contractors. Assists others or technical personnel and/or performs other tasks as defined by management. Performs work independently with minimum supervision.
Possess a strong background and good working knowledge of the operating and maintenance requirements for natural gas measurement equipment. Computer and basic office software experience as well as a strong background in the natural gas industry are desired. Effective written & verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing & maintaining good working relationships with others, to support organization & company objectives, and willingness to work in all areas required. Candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency, individual responsibility, and willingness to accept constantly changing priorities. Must be qualified or able to qualify in Measurement Skills as defined by company Skill Progression Program within established deadlines. Possess a desire to advance individual skills as assigned/required by management in accordance with defined timeframes. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of gas measurement experience.
Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:
Work in an environment requiring all employees to contribute in all phases of the business. Subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, adverse weather conditions and temperatures, heights, high-pressure gas, heavy lifting, and cramped conditions. May be required to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, and training involving some overnights stays away from home. Must reside within 45 minutes of the reporting work location. Subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks. May be required to carry a cell phone and to participate in a rotating on-call schedule. Must have a proven safe driving record, must maintain a valid driver's license and be subject to U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol related regulations. New hires to the Company will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and are subject to a background check. Job to be filled at level commensurate with experience. Successful candidate must be able to obtain a 'Transportation Workers Identification Credentials' card.
Strong gas measurement background in the natural gas industry or an associate's degree in a related technical field.
Experience with high volume, high pressure measurement facilities such as power plants and interconnects.
Experience with gas quality instrumentation, odorization, chromatographs, and communication equipment.
