JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Functions:


- Perform Skilled Mechanical duties involving operations, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing natural gas engines, compressors, generators and other power driven equipment.

- Inspect engines, compressors and mechanical equipment: diagnose problems and determine extent of necessary repairs; perform repairs and routine preventative maintenance.

- Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, compressors, pumps, motors.

- Maintenance and repair of ignition systems, carburetion equipment, fuel injection systems and emissions control systems.

- Perform Skilled Mechanical duties involving operations, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing natural gas engines, compressors, generators and other power driven equipment.


Inspect engines, compressors and mechanical equipment: diagnose problems and determine extent of necessary repairs; perform repairs and routine preventative maintenance.


- Detailed awareness of compressor components including: lubrication systems, shutdown systems, loading and unloading valves, pistons, valves and electrical systems.

- Maintain compressor logs, diaries, oil sampling and inventories of parts, equipment, lube oils and coolants.

- General upkeep of facilities and equipment including: engines/compressors, company vehicle and shop



- Upkeep and replacement of pipeline valves, actuators, pumps required




Essential Requirements: Experience, Educational & Special Training Required



- Previous Work Experience - 2 years or more.




- Proven experience with Caterpillar, Waukesha and White Superior engines, Ariel and Superior compressors.



- Proven experience with various pumps, fans and motor repairs Including repair, alignment and replacement






- Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions

- Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.

- Demonstrate sound judgment.

- Make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.

- Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.

- Have proven mechanical aptitude.

- Have a history of being dependable & reliable.

- Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance.

- Proven knowledge of plant safety and operation

- Read and understand repair manuals, procedures and standards




- Knowledge of liquid handling equipment, pigging facilities required



- Proficient in using leak detection equipment required




Preferred Skills:



- At least five years of practical, mechanical experience working on rotating equipment.

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred.




- Experience working with pressure vessels and equipment



- Vocational Tech certificates or equipment specific training preferred




Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:


- Dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment

- Work outside in all types of inclement weather

- Must have a good driving record.

- Physical capabilities of: standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, frequent heavy lifting

- Able to support existing on call schedule, some overtime is required.

- Must be team oriented, self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety, operational, and environmental policies
