The maintenance mechanic is responsible for the
efficient and economical operation and maintenance of
the waste water treatment plant and its equipment in
conjunction with participating in the maintenance of the
plant and equipment resulting in top production
efficiency and reduction of down time.
Strong understanding of the production equipment
associated with manufacturing operations including UHT,
HTST and Aseptic processors, fillers, case erectors and
other packaging line equipment.
Knowledge of electrical schematics and abilities to
troubleshoot basic control circuit wiring. This
includes motor control circuits, variable frequency
drives, motor diagnosing and main / secondary branch
electrical circuits.
Ability to effectively use a VOM meter, amp probe,
megger, rtd and 4- 20 ma simulators.
Ability to interpret ladder logic and have basic plc
knowledge associated with microprocessor- controlled
equipment. This includes verifying proper operation
of input / output modules and components connected
to these devices.
Ability to navigate and comprehend HIM screens
associated with all filler machines and processing
Knowledge and comprehension in the Purity,
Tetra-Pak, Osgood, Liqui-box filler operations, and
any future filler line, including:
Sequence of operation, cip and sterilization
Knowledge of pneumatic logic and sequence of
operation of the Liqui-box filler.
Troubleshooting using the Chessell and Hengsler
Troubleshooting and correcting production issues
associated with:
Cup seal failures
Peroxide flows and high residuals
Cabinet pressures
Product pumps
Logic problems
U.V. faults
Capper unit (Tetra-Pak)
Gable top and bottom seal failures
Ultrasonic welder (Tetra-Pak)
Must demonstrate knowledge of all production
coding equipment, including:
Proper set-up
Calibration procedures
Nozzle drive alignment procedures
Satellite break-off knowledge and comprehension
Menu screen navigation
System flushes and ink renewal procedures
Component identification
Comprehensive knowledge and use of technical
Knowledge of the boiler, plant air and ammonia
refrigeration systems in order to maintain daily
operations. Demonstrate knowledge of the ice
builders, condensers, refrigeration compressors,
pumps and valves. Must be able to determine normal
operating conditions within the systems and proper
start-up and shut down procedures.
Must maintain a Hazmat certification.
Must be flexible in weekend / shift rotation
Must possess skills in routine welding and
fabricating repairs.
Must be able to complete assigned pms, work orders
and other duties as assigned within a timely manner
with limited supervision.
Must be proficient in requisitioning / maintaining
parts inventories to ensure an uninterrupted flow of
parts through the department.
Knowledge of Waste Water Treatment Plants.
Oversee and operate the WWTP within set limits as
defined in the Industrial Wastewater Permit.
Maintain accurate records, logs, files and reports
on a timely basis
Ensure daily inspections are conducted of the plant
and plant equipment
Maintain equipment and utilize the Preventative
Maintenance Program
Oversee the sludge operation and third party hauler
Maintain and update as needed, operational and
troubleshooting guidelines; and Standard Operation
Procedures for the WWTP operation
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Keep supervisor informed of any changes in operating
procedures, any unusual circumstances and any
actions planned to resolve problems
Be prepared to discuss plant operations with
visitors to the plant in a professional manner
Maintenance and cleaning of effluent, sampling
Maintenance and cleaning of influent and effluent
metering equipment
Maintenance and cleaning of all pipes and pumps
Maintenance and cleaning of Wastewater Treatment Lab
Completion of preventative maintenance work orders
Wastewater testing as needed (in-house)
Daily sampling per city industrial permit
Recording of daily readings and plant activities as
Basic Computer Skills.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Knowledge of safety programs and procedures.
Knowledge of Hazmat and Waste Water Treatment Plant

EDUCATION and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent; and three to five
years related experience, and/or equivalent
combination of education and experience; prefer
completion of trade school or apprenticeship

such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions.
Ability to effectively present information in
one-on-one and small group situations to customers,
clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to hear and perceive information at normal
spoken word levels.
Must be able to perform basic math skills.
Ability to demonstrate superb decision-making
ability to determine best course of action in
troubleshooting and repairing equipment in a timely
and efficient manner.
