We re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Design Engineer for a great opportunity with a renowned medical device company located in Eden Prairie. You will be responsible for planning, developing, reviewing, coordinating and documenting the design of mechanical components and assemblies. This role will work on the project from cradle to grave, moving the product through to production. This includes the requirements, medical risk analysis, drawings, models, traceability of requirements to design, and any required design documentation.
-Responsible for the Mechanical portion of the Design History File (DHF) for medical devices
-Derive and maintain requirements, risk analysis, and the design outputs (models, drawings, manufacturing procedures, assembly procedures, etc.)
-Assists as required in all aspects of the design and development phases in accordance with ISO 13485, and include design and process requirements from ISO 14971, IEC 62366, IEC 60601, and CSA regulations.
-Assist in implementing of the Quality systems, practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
-Systematically improves and changes the detailed design of the product, making sure that its performance meets written specifications while also considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety, and time constraints.
-Participates in verification testing and system certification as required.
-Performs various types of testing as required for all of the mechanical/hardware components.
-Assists in the documentation of results of verification activities for all hardware components.
-Assists within the purchasing and engineering departments in the identification, sourcing, and procurement of materials and products
-Bachelor s degree in related Engineering field (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.)
-5+ years of experience in Product Design within the medical device industry.
-Experience with CAD software is required. Solid Edge experience preferred
-Experience designing parts for: plastic injection molding, plastic / metal machining and 3D printing.
-Strong communication skills in order to communicate effectively with other team members
-Must be results-orientated and have sense of urgency in order to drive and meet project deadlines.
-Must have problem solving skills and be able to work under stress.
-Must be able to work well in a multi-discipline environment.
