Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Individual mechanical engineering contributor for mechanical design projects with adherence to development procedures, policies and mechanical design standards. Reports to the Mechanical Engineering Group leader in the application of best design practices. Requires creativity in developing design solutions.
The position is for entry level up to 5 years of experience with no direct reports and no supervisory authority. Works with regular supervision and assumes ownership of assigned mechanical tasks. Presents designs and supporting documentation for review and release throughout the entire development cycle. Tracks and reports progress on assigned initiatives.
25% Mechanical Design of new and existing products. Complete analysis of Engineering Mechanics and tolerance analysis. Complete refinement to support Design for Manufacture and Assembly objectives. Present design progress at group reviews.
25% Create detailed mechanical design documentation including part drawings, assembly documents, Bills of Materials and purchasing specifications.
20% Create Engineering Change Orders to enable control and release of designs to production under the ZOLL Quality System. Support document preparation for test, regulatory submission, verification and validation of new/existing designs. Complete risk assessments and support trace of the design history file.
10% With Purchasing and Engineering Management, present new designs to suppliers for obtaining samples and prototypes for build and test. Conduct part verification and system validation of new designs complete with supporting documentation.
10% Write test protocols and conduct testing of new and existing designs with established methods for Verification and Validation
10% Collaborate with members of the Operations and Quality groups to establish design concurrence and ensure timely release of robust, cost effective and high quality designs
* Working knowledge of SolidWorks including Design, Drawing and Simulation.
* Working knowledge of drawing creation with supporting design documentation.
* Ability to design, document and analyze parts encountered in packaging embedded systems. (molded plastic housings, sheet metal, gaskets, PCBs, LCDs, cables and labels)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Excellent organizational skills
* BSME from an ABET certified college or university
* Certified SolidWorks Associate
