Description:
Intermediate/Senior:
Perform engineering evaluations and analyses, and make
engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks.
Cognizant areas may include planning, designing,
modeling, analyzing, documenting, and testing of
nuclear, mechanical, structural or electrical
components, systems and equipment and facilities. Work
may include chemical or materials evaluations, design
reviews, operations support, safety analysis,
engineering methods and software development, and
analysis of vendor's procedures and systems for quality
control or manufacturing surveillance.
The Reactor Heavy Equipment Engineering unit is
responsible for performing structural analyses on two
major class of ships, and three prototype platforms. The
position requires the investigation of an interesting
variety of reactor heavy equipment failure modes,
including fracture, fatigue, and stress corrosion
cracking. Analyses apply the finite element method to
determine the thermal-structural response of reactor
components to transients, as defined by Power Plant
Mechanical organizations. Bolted joint theory and piping
analysis are also significant deliverables. The
successful candidate may also be responsible for a UTRS
document governing head area arrangement requirements.
Occasional support for Reactor Plant Manual and
Equipment Technical Manual revisions, Safety Analysis
Reports, and Trouble Records is also a major component
of our business.
Requirements:
Intermediate:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university.
Senior:
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of six years of relevant
experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform thermal and/or
mechanical structural analysis
Strong teaming skills
