UMEC designs, builds, and commissions mechanical systems including heating, ventilating and air conditioning ( HVAC), and plumbing and piping systems for commercial, institutional, high tech, industrial, and military clients.
University Mechanical is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical/Industrial Estimator for our Anaheim CA location.
Responsible for all phases of the estimating and bidding process including preconstruction services and performing estimate takeoffs. Thorough knowledge of the mechanical construction bidding processes is required. Specific expertise with Mechanical systems serving power plants, Cogeneration facilities, manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, cGMP facilities and process systems for Pharmaceutical and microelectronics facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bid document review, pre-bid meetings, client interface, quantity takeoff, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing, spreadsheet input and proposal preparation. Estimates will be prepared using Quote Express estimating software. Experience with Quote Express or Quickpen software is desired. Duties also include on site and/or In-house estimating where candidate will work with professionals in design firms on design-assist and design-build projects to direct the design to meet the budget. Estimator will also interface with UMEC s construction project teams and CAD detailing staff. Must have knowledge regarding safety, worker s compensation, insurance and bonding, materials as it pertains to bidding requirements. Other duties may be assigned.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prefer a minimum of 3 to 5 years Mechanical Construction experience and proficiency in the preparation of large and complex bid proposals of all types.
Proficiency in: MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, Lotus Notes, and QuoteExpress windows-based piping and sheet metal estimating systems.
* Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
* Maintains a professional manner in actions and appearance when representing UMEC.
* Must prioritize in a fast paced, hands-on, multi-task environment.
* Must have demonstrated ability to perform basic business mathematical functions.
* Must work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able to work independently or in groups under a fast paced work environment.
* Must effectively manage time and details.
* Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Must have organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data.
* Must comply with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs.
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, clients, vendors, and suppliers.
