Role Overview
1. Performs work, generally within one discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features.
2. Participates in one or more of the following:
a) Equipment design and development
b) System design, including concept sketches and layouts
c) Testing of materials
d) Preparation of specifications and design calculations
e) Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers
f) Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports
g) Preparation or review of material quantity estimates
g) Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
3. Prepares letters for replies to vendor correspondence.
4. Monitors project controls within discipline.
5. Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations.
6. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
7. Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. Basic Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
Understands the application of Engineering Department Procedures, relevant Bechtel design guides. Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D), CAE and relevant Bechtel Standard Computer Applications to perform the work.
Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
Skill in oral and written communication.
The above is normally acquired through:
A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, ORA professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board, ORSufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements, ANDPractical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience in allied types of engineering sufficient to demonstrate competence as a trained engineer.
Additional Information
The candidate must possess a BSME degree and a Professional Engineering license (or able to obtain a PE within a year) and shall have HVAC engineering design experience in the oil & gas (LNG) facilities.
The candidate shall have a good engineering knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems design, including:
HVAC / plumbing calculation, create HVAC system descriptions, be familiar with nation and international mechanical / plumbing codes & standards for buildings located in an oil & gas facility. Shall have knowledge of HVAC system design for control rooms, pressurization rooms, laboratories and blast proof buildings.
Candidate shall be familiar with:
Micro Station CADD system, Trane ��" Trace 700 calculation program, micro soft word and excel programs
