Description:
The Mechanical Supervisor acts as the central point of
contact for all equipment support services for
construction projects. The successful candidate will
manage all equipment and equipment support personnel
within a project such that reliable equipment is
provided to efficiently and safely perform the project
construction work.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
Confirm receipt of and provide completed new equipment
specifications worksheet for all newly received
equipment.
Procure, monitor utilization, and manage short term
rentals ( 6 month duration).
Develop relationship and utilize relationships with key
dealer and vendor after-purchase service and support
personnel.
Develop and foster relationships with workforce
including Union and Non Union where applicable.
Responsible for overall working condition,
productivity, repair costs, and appearance of equipment
and plants.
Ensure pre-shift equipment and fleet walk around
inspections are performed.
Evaluate and act upon all oil sample results as needed.
Ensure rolling stock equipment PM work orders are
completed. Plan and manage all needed repairs with input
from EM and operations as needed. Document in JDE.
Evaluate need for repairs, evaluate repair options, and
oversee cost of equipment repairs. Consult EM as needed.
Manage spare parts inventory for area.
Enter work orders for all repairs estimated to cost
over $5000 in parts & labor.
Approve all invoices and labor charged to equipment.
Ensure all fleet vehicles are properly equipped,
licensed, tagged, placarded, and inspected to meet all
state and federal DOT regulations.
Manage yearly DOT inspection program within JDE.
Provide field support in managing fleet licenses and
tags.
Conduct and document periodic personnel-lift, fork
lift, and crane inspections.
Manage procurement and compliance with necessary plant
building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.
permits.
Ensure daily plant walk around inspections are
completed.
Conduct and document monthly and yearly plant
inspections.
Oversee move and installation of all plants.
Oversee large capital plant repairs and upgrades.
Inspect (and repair as needed) assets prior to moving
equipment.
Pre-move inspection of equipment entered into JDE.
Coordinate transportation of equipment moves.
Enter equipment move into JDE.
Reconcile hour meter corrections prior to equipment
moves.
Request equipment division changes at time of move.
Receive in JDE equipment moves from other locations.
Ensure costs charged to equipment and hours of
equipment use entered into JDE for equipment in their
area are accurate.
Accumulate and enter equipment hour meter readings
monthly with December reading entered twice (first at
end of December and second Jan. 1st of new year).
Ensure accuracy of all hour meter readings entered
manually or via telemetrics.
Monitor equipment hourly usage entered into JDE via use
of Hour Meter Correction report.
Monitor rental equipment costs.
Conduct yearly physical inventory of assets in area of
responsibility.
Ensure all people, equipment, and processes are working
in a safe manner meeting all local, state, and federal
laws.
Assist the environmental department in obtaining and
compliance with all environmental permits, laws, and
company policies.
Training, mentoring, and oversight of field mechanics.
Attend and be engaged in area regular scheduling and
progress meetings.
Keep district manager apprised of costs, schedule, and
specific activities affecting them.
Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values.
And other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
8+years technical experience in management of heavy
construction equipment.
Prior experience in heavy equipment repairs and or
management of heavy equipment repairs is highly desired.
Flexibility with working hours, including a willingness
to work extended hours, weekends, or nightshift as
needed for extended periods of time.
Capable of learning and utilizing GPS and other machine
telematics systems.
Computer skills and experience with Word and Excel.
Drafting/CAD knowledge is desired.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and
accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
