Responsible for the coding and data entry of all patient charges to assure complete and accurate billing is achieved. Does follow-up patient account review to assure claims for patient charges submitted to insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid are paid. Contacts, via phone, guarantors of patient accounts when delinquent payment is experienced and arranges for payment of the account. This individual reviews for correctness and posts payments to patient accounts.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two years business or healthcare related education OR equivalent combination of education/experience in accounts receivable, health care billing combined required. (One year of education equals one year of experience.) Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills required. Possess good PC skills and data entry skills required. Knowledge of claims processing requirements for 3rd party payers required. Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 coding requirements required. Knowledge of general office equipment (e.g., supplies, machines, computer system and peripherals, calculator, fax, etc.) required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Previous physician office billing, collection experience and data entry desired. Certified Procedural Coder preferred. FT Day
