Coder ? Job Description ?

Responsible for ensuring that all transport records are reviewed and the medical documentation is compliant. Assign appropriate ICD-10 code to document patient condition at time of transport.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following.
?Review and code transports using information from multiple data bases. Assign appropriate ICD -10 codes. Enter/validate all additional information needed for building. 60%
?Ensure all emails are reviewed and completed daily. 10%
?Review and resolve all items on coding reports. 2%
?Maintain contact with crew members to collect all missing or revised documentation. 10%
?Ensure import workflow is completed twice daily. 5%
?Complete all weekly trip reconciliations by close of business on Friday, to ensure all trips are accounted for. 2%
?Confirm all documents are indexed into Image Now and index all corrected/missing paperwork. 5%
?Ensure all monthly reconciliations are done (Month End) by running all appropriate reports and submitting to Supervisor 5%
Education & Experience
?High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years? related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
?Coding experience required

?Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines.
?Advanced customer service and phone skills
?Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
Computer Skills
?Intermediate Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
?Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
