Medical Director, Health Plan

Carilion Clinic is searching for a Medical Director for Carilion Clinic Medicare Health Plan. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) with telephone call coverage for case reviews during non-business hours. The Medical Director will provide clinical expertise and business direction in support of medical management programs to promote the delivery of high quality, constituent responsive, and cost effective medical care. Responsibilities include development and implementation of medical programspolicies, enhancing relationships with providers and facilities, plan sponsors and regulatory agencies, serving as a key member of Plan Senior Leadership and as a key business partner in community and government relations, network development, provider relations, product design, strategic planning and sales support.Requirements:L1 MDDO and Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with 3-5+ years direct patient care experience post-graduateLI Advanced degree in Business, Public Health, or a related field is desirableLI Three to 5+ years experience in a leadership and management role in the health care industryLI Active and current Virginia medical license without encumbrancesLI Working knowledge of Medicare Advantage is preferredAAEOE
