Reporting to the General Manager, Medical and Research
Products Group, this position has full responsibility
for the planning of medical equipment for healthcare and
research facilities. Must be able to manage and support
Evaluates, locates and recommends equipment to be
purchased for new medical facilities, major renovations
and expansion of existing medical facilities.
Identifies equipment and design conflicts during the
design process to avoid costly construction delays.
Provides value engineering without compromising patient
care, ADA requirements, or ergonomics.
Develops and updates budgets for project start ups.
Sets daily priorities to meet established project
Advises project management staff, service area
administration and divisional personnel on the
appropriate use of medical equipment for all major
construction, renovations and expansion projects.
Facilitates meetings with medical personnel to establish
appropriate placement and use of medical equipment for
Reviews project drawings and coordinates equipment
requirements on the plans. Establishes a communication
network between the project team, facility, divisional
personnel, architects and contractors.
Ensures compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory
standards for equipment installation and use.
Works with architectural consultants and contractors to
review drawings identify and note design/equipment
conflicts and work to reconcile drawings to
functionality, and provide equipment specifications.
Identifies and evaluates equipment in place to determine
potential reuse, identifies obsolete, inappropriate,
malfunctioning or unneeded equipment.
Oversee the production of equipment lists provided to

Maintain knowledge and understanding of emerging
technologies and products.
