Medical Informatics (MI) Analyst is an applied scientist with a problem-solving mindset, responsible for analyzing clinical data, uncovering the underlying data patterns and logic, and developing data-driven applications to be used by MGH physicians and management. This makes MI Analyst responsible for the entire problem-solving cycle: finding/prioritizing the problems, researching the best algorithms to solve them, designing and developing robust, practical solutions, and implementing them in the clinical environment. Thus, the ultimate purpose of the MI Analyst work is to make MGH operations more efficient, reliable, and integrated, improving MGH staff productivity and MGH patient satisfaction.

MI Analyst is responsible for solving data-driven clinical/performance problems, including the following:

Analyzing clinical and performance data collected at MGH: Studying data dependencies, patterns, outliers, inaccuracies and validity.

Designing and evaluating optimal data-defined metrics (such as physician/facility performance criteria, bottleneck metrics, productivity limits, processing delay/error reports, etc.)

Based on data analysis, presenting performance-improving recommendations, and working on implementing them at MGH clinical facilities.

Developing data-driven applications to be used in our clinical environment

Working with MGH patients, physicians, staff, management, vendors on a regular basis, looking for the best ways to create optimal, functional and productive environment
