JOB DESCRIPTION

**Position is for Thursday and Friday night shift.**

Essential Functions:
Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Conducts immunological analyses of blood and body fluids. Examines blood cells, their numbers and morphology. Performs coagulation studies. Performs blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Performs microbiology cultures and sensitivities. Distinguishes an acceptable specimen from an unacceptable one and resolves issues, provides information or guidance from the technical area. Monitors point of care testing within the hospital. Produces documentation, occurrence reports, worksheets, corrective action reports and logs. Performs quality control to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Assists senior technologist in training new technologists and students. Participates in routine maintenance of lab equipment. Assists in updating and developing procedures. Sets up microbiology cultures and staining procedures. Calls and correctly documents critical value results to the appropriate medical care personnel/department Additional Functions Maintains appropriate levels of supplies for the department through inventory control procedures. Qualifications:
Required:

* Bachelor's degree in medical technology.

* Must demonstrate broad and thorough knowledge of the theories, principles and practices in a professional discipline, specialized or occupational field.

* More than three up to five years of related work experience required, demonstrating a broad knowledge of the job responsibilities and methods.

* ASCP Preferred
