The Department of Pathology is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Retro Viral Laboratory. The Medical Technologist will perform molecular biological, serological, and immunological tests on body specimens to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease. Verifies identification of specimen with physician orders, prepares specimen for testing and handles all specimens in a safe and careful manner. Accurately analyzes results of testing, interprets abnormal and unusual results in laboratory testing. Researches and prepares all pertinent patient data and refers all data and testing results to pathologists for evaluation and sign-out. Calibrates equipment. May engage in medical research to assist in developing new tests. Knows hospital policies, department policies and complies with them. Follows proper laboratory safety procedures. Reports all injuries to supervisor. May train and supervise medical laboratory technician and student and medical technologists. Participates in continuing educational programs. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Associate Degree, and one (1) year of relevant experience are required. Must demonstrate proficiency in molecular biology and cell immunology. Current/valid State of Florida Medical Technologist license, in the area of PCR and Flow Cytometry. Proficiency with computers is preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
