JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB SUMMARY
The Mental Health Counselor will provide general mental-health counseling to faculty, staff, domestic partners, and retirees of the University of Kentucky. Our counseling services are offered free-of-charge to clients. Work will also involve presentations, workshops, grief counseling, and support in planning mental-health related events on campus.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will have previous experience providing mental health counseling; have strong active listening, judgement, critical thinking and decision making skills; be service oriented; have social perceptiveness; proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; excellent attention to detail; satisfactory-level of planning and organizational skills; solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to solve routine problems and manage resources; demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and time management; and respect for confidentiality and inclusivity for people of all backgrounds and abilities.
DOES THIS POSITION HAVE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES*
4-5 years of previous experience providing mental health counseling is strongly preferred.
