RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The FRIENDS Child and Adolescent Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (Article 31) is integrated with the home-based crisis services offered by FRIENDS. It services children and adolescents ages 5-18, offering individual, family and group therapy, psychiatric assessment and treatment, and crisis intervention as needed. Services are provided on a short-term basis with an average length of stay of 6 to 12 months.
Responsible for providing mental health assessment and treatment to patients with psychiatric symptoms, cognitive deficits, and/or behavioral problems. Provides advanced nursing care in collaborative practice with AMH psychiatrist. Works under general supervision.
Licensure: License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required. License as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York required. Valid drivers license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs.
Education: Masters degree in psychiatric nursing required.
Experience: Bilingual skills may be required, as determined by operational needs required. Minimum of one year of experience in a medical/surgical/psychiatric environment preferred.
