Job Description

PURPOSE

Oversees the development of specified component production estimates and timelines based on orders and specifications processed in order to ensure a constant flow of work to production; supervises the work of a team of Component Technicians who estimate and process customer orders ensuring that design specifications reflect appropriate component engineering design factors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Computes load and grade requirements and material stress factors to determine design specifications based on customers structural design needs; determines whether standard designed components or customer designed components are most appropriate for customers needs.

2. Based on component orders processed develops design specifications, item estimates and timelines for production of specific components which are communicated to production management.

3. Acts as liaison for communicating between departments and customer on individual jobs in order to expedite accurate identification of component needs and order specifications to production and subsequent delivery to customers.

4. Responsible for meeting schedules, meeting budgets and measuring productivity within own area of responsibility.

5. Participates as part of the Schedule Review Team.

6. Manages a department to ensure achievement of functional and budget/financial goals.

7. Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

8. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices and ensures that employees observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injuries or damage; schedules periodic safety meetings and solicits recommended changes to improve safety procedures.

9. Other duties may be assigned.

COMPETENCIES

- Knowledge of company products, production processes and product standards
- Knowledge of company product pricing, discount and estimating formulas and guidelines
- Ability to execute plans/projects through others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of drafting, architectural design or CAD applications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in Business or related field and six (6) years design, production and supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
