GPI is seeking mid-level Transportation/Highway engineers for immediate openings in our Albany NY office to assist with a variety of NYSDOT transportation projects. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the design development process for various NYSDOT, NYSTA, County, and/or private projects along with familiarity with AASHTO specifications.
The individual must be an enthusiastic and motivated candidate with experience in the design of roadway geometrics and/or structures; intersections; drainage; erosion and sedimentation control; hydraulic and hydrology analysis; development of sequence of construction and maintenance of traffic plans; and preparation of cost estimates and specifications. Additionally, the individual must be knowledgeable in the preparation of technical reports including design memos, design reports, and bid documents. Project management and construction coordination will also be required along with good oral and written communications with design staff and various clients.
BSCE is required. EIT certification or PE license is desirable. Ideal candidate will possess 3 to 6 years of experience in Roadway/Transportation projects in New York. Proficiency with MicroStation and Inroads is mandatory.
Qualified candidate must have a valid driver’s license and retain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
Possess a personal vehicle for use during the day for transportation to and from and on or around a job site
Ability to read and understand plans and direction given in the English language
Ability to write in English
Basic computer skills
Ability to create and or edit Microsoft Word documents
Ability to create and or edit Microsoft Excel documents
Be able to wear GPI standard PPE, i.e. hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles
